Happy Birthday, Marc Brown!

Yesterday marked Marc Brown's 67th birthday! Happy Birthday! We love all his Arthur books and of course the Arthur Show on PBS. And since over 65 million Arthur books have been sold in the United States alone and his books, apps, e-books and TV shows are being enjoyed by children in 80 countries around the world - we thought it would only be fitting to celebrate his birthday with an Arthur themed bento lunch!

This lunch is a simple open faced peanut butter sandwich with melted chocolate, jelly and candy eye details. I placed another slice of bread at the bottom of the sandwich so my kids can easily make a sandwich out of Arthur and enjoy the jelly, peanut butter and chocolate filling.

Happy Birthday, Marc Brown!

P.S. Of course this lunch was served with yogurt and a second container with fruit and veggies to round out the meal.

Please also visit The Little Crooked Cottage to see my guest post there, plus if you missed the hilarious round table interview on Mr. Pig Live! yesterday - a timber wolf, a lion and a great white shark from CARNIVORES where the guests, go read it now.

Carnivores - a Literary Lunch

Carnivores by Aaron Reynolds and illustrated by Dan Santat is a hilarious book that portraits what happens when some of the world's best known carnivores - the lion, great white shark and wolf - share that their feelings get hurt when they are labeled as meanies. In turn the three decide to go on a vegetarian diet, but find they don't have the stomach for it. Ultimately they go back to being their true selves, even if it does mean they eat cute animals.

We packed a delicious lunch fit for vegetarian Carnivores in our Easylunchboxes:
  • a roaring lion Nutella sandwich with chocolate details and candy eyes
  • scary pumpernickel peanut butter timber wolf with chocolate details and candy eyes
  • several forest strawberries
  • a frightening apple shark with almond details and candy eyes and
  • sea creature cheese crackers

Head over to the Little Crooked Cottage to read the exclusive interview with the Timber Wolf, the Lion and the Great White Shark on Mr. Pig Live! and see my lunch over there, too! I wonder if they ate it all?

Panda Yumbox

Happy Friday!

We have been busy shopping for the weekend, buying and wrapping birthday presents for friends' parties and now that dinner is in the crock pot my preschooler deserved a bento box for lunch for all her patience!

She helped pick the decorations for her Yumbox today:
  • vanilla yogurt with black and white sprinkles
  • cheese snacks
  • a CuteZCute Panda Mama and Baby
  • cucumber bamboo
  • and a tangerine
I accidentaly used the wrong lense - can you tell it has been a busy day - so the rest of my pictures kind of look like this:

Oops, lol. Time for the weekend!

Little Red Writing - a Literary Lunch

Do you love the story of Little Red Riding Hood? Well, then you will absolutely adore this hilarious retelling of the original story by Joan Holub and Melissa Sweet: Little Red Writing!

Acclaimed writer Joan Holub and Caldecott Honoree Melissa Sweet team up in this hilarious and exuberant retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, in which a brave, little red pencil finds her way through the many perils of writing a story, faces a ravenous pencil sharpener (the Wolf 3000)... and saves the day. - Amazon.com

We packed a picnic lunch worth taking through the literary forest in our new Tri Bento from ECOlunchboxes (I only packed food in two of the layers, the third layer contained a smoothie pouch):
  • cucumber trees
  • wild strawberries
  • yogurt raisin mushrooms
  • mini leaf shaped peanut butter sandwiches decorated with cheese words
  • a Little Red Writing cream cheese sandwich with fresh strawberries and cheese and nori features
  • a salad, carrot and cucumber forest

Little Red Writing on her way through the Literary Forest.

And I had some trouble keeping the food in the lunch box until lunch ;) Someone thought they could snatch a strawberry or two while I was distracted trying to get a good picture! Of course the owner of the little hand got some strawberries after the pictures.

Now head over to The Little Crooked Cottage for an exclusive Mr. Pig LIVE! interview with Little Red Writing and to see my lunch over there!

CuteZcute 2-Tier Baby Bento Buddies - a Review

Meet Baby Cool Penguin! One of three new Baby Bento Buddies from CuteZCute! I feel so lucky to have been asked to review this adorable bento box!

This two tier bento box comes with a bottom tier, top tier, fitted lid and serving bowl. It holds approximately 440 ml of food combined. But what stands out for me is that it is really well made, has a beautiful finishing and is easy to clean! The bento box is dishwasher safe (without the clear lid) and microwavable (without the clear lid). It is of course BPA free!!

Thanks to it's unique design you can pack both tiers or just one depending on what you are packing for the day! The Baby Bento Buddy would make a cute one tier snack container!

Today's penguin themed Baby Bento Buddy lunch consists of:
  • Jasmine rice with two cheese penguin decorations
  • Furikake (not pictured) for the rice and
  • home made vanilla sugar cookie chips and fresh strawberries

The serving bowl can be used to combine packed foods or like with our lunch add seasoning to the rice and make it easier to use!

I really adore this bento box. It may be small but it has so many different uses I might just have to collect them all!

Wondering what else you could use this adorable box for?

How about in the bathroom?

In my kids' bathroom I would use it for Band-Aids (they always need to be ready available), Q-tips and bath salt. It would look adorable there as well as in the kitchen!

Want one or two, too?
